Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to the Mercure Bridgwater Hotel for four nights.
Today, enjoy our included excursion to Bath, where we take a guided tour of the city.
You will have the opportunity to explore the most renowned parts of the ancient city, which are conveniently concentrated in the centre. These include the historic Roman Baths and Pump Room, the architectural splendour of Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge over the Avon. See the majestic Abbey where Edgar was crowned King of all England in 973 AD.
There are also riverside walks, a fine selection of shops and a good choice of cafés for your morning coffee and lunch.
Enjoy an included scenic drive through Cheddar Gorge, one of the most spectacular and iconic natural landscapes in England. Stunning limestone cliffs rise to nearly 450 feet in the Mendip Hills.
Head to the Lower Gorge and village for quaint tearooms, gentle riverside walks and a whole host of restaurants and cafes.
Our day continues with a visit to Wells, the smallest city in England. See unique moated Bishop’s Palace and the magnificent Cathedral, which provides the main focal point of the city and dates back to the 13th century. The cobbled streets and medieval architecture are barely changed since the 14th century.
This afternoon we visit Glastonbury, famous for its ruined Abbey and the legendary burial place of King Arthur and Guinevere.
Enjoy a relaxing trip on the West Somerset Heritage Railway and take the steam train from Bishops Lydeard through the lovely scenery of the Quantock Hills, passing unspoilt villages to the coastal resort of Minehead.
Top off the day with a visit to the medieval village of Dunster to discover the iconic Yarn Market, a Working Watermill and Dunster Castle, dramatically situated on a wooded hill since Norman times and boasting a medieval gatehouse and ruined tower.
Return home.
