Dive further back in time and uncover the city’s Viking history at the Jorvik Viking Centre, discover 300 years of railway history at the National Railway Museum, or learn more about York’s sweet history at the Chocolate Story. For those who would rather browse the shops, York has plenty to offer, from high street favourites to quirky and independent boutiques, along with excellent cafes, pubs and restaurants.
At this time of year, York is home to St Nicholas Fair, one of the best Christmas Markets in the county, boasting traders from across the country selling the traditional festive foods and hand-crafted gifts.
We return back to the hotel in time for our 'Christmas Dinner' complete with a complimentary glass of wine.
