For the energetic, in the maze of cobbled streets, you'll find the 199 Steps that lead up to the dramatic ruins of Whitby Abbey that provide spectacular views across the town and coast.
Or perhaps you'll choose to enjoy a serving of fish and chips from the ever-popular Magpie Café - recommended by many a famous chef as the best to be found in the UK!
A day to explore Scarborough at your own pace – why not explore its two bays, castle ruins and colourful harbour? Britain's original seaside resort, the town has much to offer - did you know that the town was home to one of the first purpose-built museums in the world? - The Rotunda (entrance not included) tells the incredible story of the natural history and fossil-rich finds on offer along the Yorkshire Coast.
Today's excursion includes a journey aboard the lovingly resorted carriages of North Yorkshire Moors Railway. We travel to Goathland, best known as the setting of TV's Heartbeat, where we take to the tracks through the glorious scenery to Pickering.
We then make our way to the interesting Ryedale Folk Museum - a unique visitor attraction in the picturesque village of Hutton-le-Hole and where the history of Ryedale and the North York Moors is brought to life through the museum's buildings and collections.
After a morning at leisure, we visit the fantastic Scarborough Fair Collection this afternoon which features a magnificent collection of vintage cars, steam engines, vintage fairground rides and mechanical organs, and is famous for its ballroom and sequence dance afternoons.
Be sure to enjoy the melodic tones of the Wurlitzer organ that is expertly played by the resident organist - with plenty of well-known tunes to dance to! Even if you don't take to the floor, enjoy the music and take a look around this fascinating collection of memorabilia.
