We head to Cologne for free time. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore this cathedral city, with its wealth of monuments and attractions. Later we board our cruise ship, the A-ROSA BRAVA, and begin our exciting Rhine cruise from here, heading south along the river.
Discover Koblenz during your Rhine cruise. Its history dates back over 2,000 years, making it one of Germany’s oldest cities – and one of its most picturesque, with a wealth of sights and cultural attractions. Marvel at Koblenz’s palaces, stately homes, grand townhouses, narrow lanes and romantic corners. Be sure to take in the views as we sail close to the famous Deutsches Eck headland!
Welcome to the Upper Rhine. Speyer is Germany's oldest planned medieval town at over 2,000 years old, and occupies a strategic location on a low terrace beside the river. The cathedral is a highlight of the town, being one of the country’s most important High Romanesque cathedrals and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Today your Rhine river cruise will call at Strasbourg, with its medieval half-timbered houses and elegant city palaces.
We cruise to Mainz, arriving around lunchtime. With 2,000 years of history, Mainz is not just one of the oldest cities in Germany, it is also a place where you can see history come alive wherever you turn. We moor overnight in Mainz.
We leave Mainz and cruise through the Rhine Gorge, passing the legendary Loreley to reach Boppard. Boppard, is an imperial town located close to the narrow horseshoe bend of the Rhine. In the 4th century the Romans replaced their citadel with a stone fortress made up of 28 towers, which was soon overrun by Germanic tribes.
We leave Boppard around midday and cruise to St. Goar for the Rhine in Flames event, which will take place this evening. The ship will be part of the Flotilla and you will be able to enjoy the Rhine In Flames event from on board. The ship will not dock. After the fireworks we will sail overnight to Cologne.
We disembark in Cologne and head home.
