Make your own way to our hotel in North Derbyshire, where you will meet an experienced Tour Manager and enjoy a relaxing evening with dinner.
Following breakfast, we will board our coach and head towards the fascinating Crich Tramway Village. Home to over 60 trams built between 1873 and 1982, this national tramway museum has so much to offer! You will have ample time to explore the village at your own pace, with a park, woodland walk, picturesque picnic point, and various dining options. There's no shortage of things to see and do here!
Our next stop will be Matlock Bath, where we'll have an included ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car. The ascent to the top station, which is 554ft high, offers breathtaking views of the Derwent Valley and the surrounding Peak District.
This morning, our coach transfers us to Rowsley and we hop aboard the Peak Rail Heritage Railway. The line follows the River Derwent and passes through the spectacular Matlock Dale.
Later, our coach takes us to Froghall Station where we’ll join the Churnet Valley Railway. This heritage railway runs along a section of the Churnet Valley Line of the former North Staffordshire Railway, offering a glimpse into the golden age of railway travel as it travels through stunning countryside. We'll enjoy a roundtrip journey from Froghall, before returning to our hotel for our evening meal.
In the morning, we will be transferred by coach to Wirksworth Station, where we will board the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. This railway was a former terminus of the Midland Railway, which was reopened in 2002, and offers a beautiful round-trip train journey through the stunning scenery of the Peak District.
Afterwards, we travel by coach to Chatsworth House and Gardens. With included entry to both the house and gardens, enjoy time to explore in a way that suits you. Home to the Dukes of Devonshire for many generations, the land was purchased by Elizabeth and William Cavendish in 1549 for £600. This was the Home of Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury, better known as Bess of Hardwick. During her lifetime, she married four times and rose to a position of great power and wealth. In 1547, she married William Cavendish, Treasurer of the King’s Chamber – they had eight children and made Chatsworth their home. A later marriage in 1567 to George Talbot, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury, saw Bess become Countess of Shrewsbury. Over the following generations, the house was transformed into what we see today.Later, our coach returns us to our hotel for dinner this evening.
After breakfast, you’re free to check out of the hotel and make your way home at leisure.
