Following breakfast, our coach transfers us the short distance to Tower Pier for the highlight of our weekend break.
Step aboard Waverley, the world's last seagoing paddle steamer, for an amazing experience. She was built to replace the 1899 Waverley which was sunk by enemy action on May 29, 1940, at Dunkirk.
After departing Tower Pier, experience the spectacular sight of Tower Bridge opening to allow us to pass under before charting a course down the Thames. There are plenty of outdoor spaces along with indoor cabins to enjoy your cruise. Drinks and snacks are available on board to purchase along with a shop to purchase a souvenir or two. We steam along the Thames passing Canary Wharf, the O2 Arena and through the Thames Barrier as we head towards the estuary before continuing our journey to the Essex seaside town of Southend on Sea. The highlights just keep on coming with this tour as Waverley comes into Southend and docks at the very end of Southend Pier. This is the world's longest pleasure pier stretching 1.33 miles out into the sea! Don't worry, we have included the Pier train to whisk you back to the prom or if you feel like a stroll, you are more than welcome.
We arrive into Southend at approximately 1:15pm where we have a couple of hours to enjoy this traditional seaside resort before our coach collects us for the journey back to London.
