Trip calling firstly at Barnstaple – the county town of North Devon. There are a number of town trails that take in the 17th century alms houses, the old bridge and the pretty churches and chapels. There are many shopping opportunities including the traditional pannier market, the usual high street shops, and independent retailers offering quirky and local crafts and specialities.
Our day out continues as we make our way to pretty Bideford, with its thriving shopping centre and busy harbour. Once Britain's third largest port, with its name derived from by-the-ford, the tree-lined quay still bustles with fishing vessels, cargo and pleasure boats.
Return home.

Lovely hotel beautiful scenery. Also steam train journey was excellent. I would have liked more time in Dunster and less time in Minehead. I think the coach was too big for some of the country lanes.
