Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to Merseyside and our hotel for four nights.
There is so much to do in Liverpool, from shops and restaurants to museums and galleries.
Why not explore the Tate gallery on Albert Dock to see modern art, learn about the city’s past in one of its many free museums, or walk in the footsteps of the Fab Four at the Cavern Club or Beatles Story. Liverpool One, the city's newest shopping outlet, offers designer stores and popular eateries, or perhaps head to one of the two iconic cathedrals which always impress.
Visit medieval Chester, a city rich in heritage with many historic sights, such as the Roman Amphitheatre, walls and cathedral.
Each chapter of Chester's fascinating history is etched into the very fabric of the city – you'll be walking where Roman Legionaires marched to war, Viking raiders wreaked havoc and where Norman invaders conquered the Anglo Saxons. With the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre, there’s plenty to see and do. Why not explore the famous 700-year-old shopping 'Rows' that boast excellent shops, boutiques and restaurants?
Today we visit the pretty Lancashire town of Ormskirk. The market here is one of the country’s oldest and most traditional street markets, dating back to 1286 when the monks at nearby Burscough Priory were granted a Royal Charter by Edward I. Today it is still a focal point for the town with around 100 stalls in the pedestrianised town centre, selling wonderful food, clothes, books, gifts and crafts.
Later in the day we continue on to the seaside town of Southport, where there is still an air of Victorian elegance in the galleries along Lord Street – be sure to admire the view from the beautiful pier!
Return home.

The trip was very interesting , so much to do in Liverpool and Chester, could have spent more time there. The Park hotel was great, the staff were so helpful and friendly and could not do enough for you, nothing seemed too much trouble. The food in the hotel was wonderful we did not have a bad meal while we were there, the breakfast really set you up for the day.

Nice trip overall, but hotel was disappointing, and the excursion to Ormskirk a complete waste of time--Southport not much better. Liverpool and Chester were great.
