Today, we drive the coastal route to Berwick-upon-Tweed. Driving along the Northumberland coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we’ll see Bamburgh and the remarkable Holy Island before arriving at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Fought over for centuries, this is the most northern town in England and sits directly on the Anglo-Saxon border. Dominated by three bridges crossing the River Tweed, walks along the riverbanks and ancient ramparts offer spectacular views.
