Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to Newcastle for a four-night stay.
This tiny, 2-sq mile island packs a lot in with religious significance dating back centuries.
Connected to the mainland by a causeway that is only accessible at low tide, Lindisfarne is much the same as when St. Aidan founded a monastery here in 635 AD.
We then return via Seahouses, a delightful Northumberland Coast village.
Explore Durham, in the ‘Land of the Prince Bishops’, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The grand Norman-era Cathedral dominates the landscape and there is a plethora of delightful shops and cafés to enjoy in the cobbled streets.
We then return to Newcastle for an afternoon at leisure.
Today we visit Alnwick, home to an impressive castle and gardens and is bursting with pretty streets and interesting shops, such as Barter Books, one of the largest second-hand bookshops in Europe.
We then take a scenic drive along the beautiful Northumbrian Coast. With wide, sandy beaches, quaint villages, and impressive castles, this stretch of coastline is some of the most beautiful in the country.
Return home.
You will stay for four nights at the 4-star Leonardo Hotel Newcastle (formerly Jurys Inn) in Newcastle.

My granddaughter and I had a fantastic holiday, lovely ladies in surrounding seats, made her feel special. Being a huge Harry Potter fan she enjoyed Alnwick Castle and Durham Cathedral. also enjoyed the visit to Holy Island, and our coach driver was fantastic, took us to Angel of the North for a quick stop on the way home from Durham and Bamburgh on the way home from Holy Island, and got to visit the Grace Darling museum. Andrew really made our holiday special with the extras visits. The hotel was great, as was the food and service, the staff were very helpful with the dairy free for my granddaughter and both of us G/F. Already booked another holiday for October! (The only downside was the terrible transfer driver, thought we were going to have an accident on way home from Rugby, thank goodness we weren't with him for our holiday)

We have nothing but praise for our tour driver Andrew. He was very professional & friendly. We enjoyed our trips & Holy Island was something to knock off our bucket list. The hotel did not come up to our expectations. The public areas & our bedroom were very clean. As regards the food the buffet breakfast was very good but unfortunately the evening meals not so good, very variable! Not enough choice in main meal & quality. Regarding our coach transfers they were all good but our mini bus transfer at Gordano services to Eastgate, Bristol was 40 mins late which could have resorted in problems for onward travel! But fortunately our taxi driver waiting for us at Eastgate had enough time in his schedule to wait for our late arrival.

Enjoyable, travel companion- a stranger not sociable so made things awkward. Driver Somerset Chris was good, did his job but no extras. 12 hour journey there & back is a bit much tbh. Excursions sometimes feel rushed. Disabled/ elderly should be asked if they can cope/ manage with a coach journey as clearly some can not leaving others to have to assist, which is not what we book into.

Fabulous five days, lucky with weather. Chris very accommodating and informative Driver. Only down side was having to eat Dinner at the last sitting at 20.00. Otherwise perfect holiday.

I loved the overall holiday, days out, travel time,Shearings staff. However, the hotel was not good enough for a four star. The staff were amazing, location fine, breakfast good but the evening meals were appalling. The hotel was not able to cope with three coachloads of guests and my party could not eat until 8pm most night. And the food was poor quality.
