Experience a nostalgic trip by steam on Norfolk’s longest narrow gauge railway which runs between the historic market town of Aylsham and the bustling town of Wroxham, at the heart of the Norfolk Broads. Originally built on the trackbed of the former Great Eastern Railway, the line opened in 1880 and survived for passenger travel until 1952 and closed until it was reopened as a tourist attraction in 1990.
We then explore the Norfolk Broads with a cruise passing the picturesque villages and windmills that dot this wetland. Our vessel is the Southern Comfort, a double-decked paddle boat, purpose built for cruising the Broads. Admire the view from the top deck, or relax in the plush interiors below deck and enjoy the informative commentary as we sail!
Relax in seaside Great Yarmouth with a day at leisure to perhaps visit the Victorian piers, sit an watch the world go by on the promenade, or explore the popular town centre.
Alternatively, join our optional trip to historic Norwich where, in this truly English city, it is still a pleasure to wander among the medieval streets, particularly cobbled Elm Hill, which is full of character. There is an abundance of historically and architecturally rich buildings, that span 1000 years of the city's history, from the Norman Cathedral, to the historic walls and Plantation Garden
with an extra experience
We visit traditional seaside Cromer and Sheringham on the North Norfolk coast, before boarding the heritage train.
Known as the Poppy Line, inspired by a 19th century poet Clement Scott who referred to this area as Poppy Land. Sit back, relax and admire the view! One of the five great heritage lines of the UK, there's a 1950s waiting room, delightful gift shop and restored signal box to explore as well as the splendid journey to enjoy!
