Local departure by coach, then to Scotland, arriving at our hotel this evening for a four-night stay.
Today’s included excursion takes you through the forested hills, stunning mountains and beautiful lochs of the Trossachs to the town of Stirling, the ancient capital of Scotland. Here, the streets of the Old Town all wind upwards towards the castle. From the castle you can admire the surrounding landscape, known as ‘Braveheart Country’, following Hollywood’s interpretation of the life of William Wallace, Scotland’s first freedom fighter.
After a leisurely morning we travel to Edinburgh, one of Europe’s great capital cities. Walk the Royal Mile, which links Castle Hill (the city’s oldest street), the Lawnmarket, High street and Cannongate and runs through the heart of the Old Town. Take time to discover the atmospheric ‘closes’ or alleys running rib-like off the backbone of the Mile. There is also a good choice of pubs, restaurants and teashops.
In the evening, we take our seats for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo (admission included). The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo draws together a host of creative talent from four continents. With innovative production, heart-stopping sound, imaginative graphics, state-of-the-art lighting and specially commissioned fireworks, this is a 90-minute show not to be missed.
Join today's included excursion to the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond with pretty villages along its shores, where a picture-postcard view awaits around every corner.
Return home.
