Included excursion to Brighton, premier resort of the Sussex coast. Sometimes known as London-by-the-Sea, Brighton has been a popular resort since the days of the Prince Regent, who built the resort’s fairy tale Royal Pavilion.
See Regency style architecture, best represented by the Royal Pavilion. If you enjoy shopping, then Brighton is a paradise. You can choose from modern malls, Victorian streets lined with little shops, and the fashionable Lanes, where you can browse among antique shops in a village-like area.
Later, we include a scenic drive along the Sussex Heritage Coast, with a photo stop at Beachy Head to see the spectacular Seven Sisters chalk cliffs.
This heritage line runs between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead, and was one of the first preserved standard gauge steam-operated passenger railway in the country to operate a public service. The first train ran in 1960 and the experience will take you back to a bygone era.
Day at leisure or join our optional excursion as we explore historic 1066 Country. We head first to Cinque Port of Rye, with its cobbled streets and charming alleyways, lined with medieval buildings.
Our excursion continues with a visit to the abbey town of Battle, scene of William the Conqueror's victory over Harold.
We end the day in the rejuvenated coastal town of Hastings.
