Durham has been called a ‘perfect little city’ with its magnificent cathedral, Norman castle, and medieval streets. Its small, compact size makes it easy to explore, and there are plenty of riverside cafés and pubs to relax in after taking in the sights. We also include a visit to the fascinating Beamish Open-Air Museum where you can step back in time to a bygone era. The museum tells the story of life in the North East during Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times.
