Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to the Dumfries for four nights.
Enjoy an excursion to visit one of the areas most majestic stately homes. Immerse yourself in over 600 years of The Douglas Family’s history with guided tour of the 'Pink Palace', as it is affectionately called. You will also have free time to explore the stunning formal gardens. Treat yourself in the Castle Gift Shop or Castle Tearoom at the end of the visit before we return to Dumfries.
Enjoy a day in Dumfries with a day at leisure or alternatively, join our optional excursion to Galloway Forest Park, where we take a scenic drive to admire the views of the hills, glens, lochs and mountains. Galloway Forrest Park is the largest forest in the UK and the UK’s first Dark Sky Park because of its extremely low light pollution, on a clear night, you’ll see night sky as never before!
The optional excursions will be available to book during your tour.

Today we explore by a scenic drive through some of the quaint villages of Galloway to Stranraer, the largest town in south west Scotland.
The town has a beautiful centre, dominated by the Castle of St John - why not enjoy a leisurely stroll along the redeveloped West Pier - on a clear day you'll get spectacular views of Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran in the distance.
