Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then onto Cumbria and your hotel for a four night stay. The Shap Wells Hotel is situated in a secluded wooded valley, high in the Shap Fells and enjoys remote views.
We travel into the Northern Lakelands to enjoy a cruise on beautiful Ullswater. Regarded by many as the most beautiful lake in England, Ullswater is magnificently set amid the splendour of the Lakeland Fells and our cruise takes in the peaceful scenery of this wonderful lake.
We also call at Penrith, the historic capital of Cumbria. Penrith has a good mix of traditional shops and sophisticated arcades and leading off the main streets are many old yard entrances with interesting inscriptions to discover.
We venture to the market town of Keswick today where there will be some free time to explore. The main square here is flanked by independent shops, quaint cafés and art galleries.
We take to the waters once more with a cruise on Derwentwater, in the shadow of mighty Cat Bells. The lake is dotted with islands, and at its calmest is almost mirror-like.
Today we visit bustling Ambleside where there will be a little free time before we take to the shimmering waters of Lake Windermere and cruise to pretty Bowness.
Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the most popular destinations in the region and home to many independent shops, quaint cafés and Beatrix Potter attractions. Potter around the quaint village centre, or find a café and watch the world go by!
Return home.
You will stay for four nights at the 3-star Shap Wells Hotel, situated in a secluded wooded valley, high in the Shap Fells.

Disappointing as Shap Wells Hotel situated in a very isolated position miles from anywhere. I have written to Shearings about our holiday experience. I have had some very good holidays with Shearings but this wasn't so good.

I had a fantastic escape with this tour. Hotel Shap Well Hotel - Beautiful setting, staff were excellent 10/10 :-), entertainment is more for the older age group which I did not mind. Their system for checking into the hotel, service of food (3 coaches) was excellent. My room was clean and tidy (but the decor is some years old) Food - Breakfast is excellent. Evening meals were not the best and they seriously need to improve on them.

Excellent service by the coach driver Gary can't fault him or the trip on cruises at all. Wasn't so pleased with the hotel, needs a lot of TLC, main meal wasn't very nice either, breakfast was just about passable but they really need to cook the bacon and sausages properly they under done needed to be cooked more.

Shearings coach driver was very informative and knowledgeable regarding the area. The hotel, Shaps Wells, was in the middle of nowhere, but very peaceful. We had a twin room with walk-in shower. There was no wardrobe, only hangers on the wall, and no drawers, only shelves. Breakfast was exceedingly good. Dinner was ok, but everthing was served with mash potato. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The trips to the lakes were good, but only about 1 hours was spent on the lakes and the rest of the time walking around towns looking at shops. There needs to be either more time on the lakes or other tours included.
