Make the most of a visit to Bad Ischl. This lovely little spa town is a fantastic example of Austrian life, as you’ll notice a particularly laid back and calm atmosphere here. During your visit, take a stroll through the charming streets, enjoy some traditional Austrian lunch from one of the small cafes or pastry shops. We continue to the pretty village of Hallstatt, set on the banks of Lake Hallstatt, and dotted with charming pastel-coloured houses The views across the lake are also wonderful, and there are many lakeside strolls you’ll be able to enjoy.

We take in two beautiful lakes today, as we make our way to Lakes Mondsee and Wolfgang. The pretty lakeside town of Mondsee has an attractive marketplace lined with pastel-coloured baroque houses, a promenade where you can stroll along the tranquil lake waters and the church featured in the’ Sound of Music’ during the wedding scene.

Meanwhile, Lake Wolfgang is known for its magnificent landscape and clear waters. The popular lakeside resort of St Wolfgang is known for its 15th-century church, traditional old town with cobbled streets and wonderful frescoed houses. Advent time on Lake Wolfgangsee offers local delicacies, homemade punch and mulled wine as well as carefully selected gift ideas.

There will be free time to explore the Christmas Market.

The city of Salzburg makes for an excellent optional excursion, famous for being home to the Sound of Music.

Enjoy the old town with its impressive fortress and cathedral, take time out to visit the house where Mozart was born or relax in the Mirabell Gardens. There are numerous architectural styles to be found in Salzburg, including Romanesque, gothic, renaissance, baroque and many more modern styles.

During the Advent season, the largest attraction has to be the Christmas markets which are located on Cathedral and Residenz Square in the heart of the historic city centre. Here you will experience the incredible old Austrian tradition and find the most wonderful Christmas presents for your loved ones at home.
