Uncover some of the city’s Viking past at the Jorvik Viking Centre, discover 300 years of railway history at the National Railway Museum, or learn more about York’s sweet history at the Chocolate Story. Don’t miss the unforgettable York Minster, one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe and a superb example of beautiful, Gothic architecture. This morning we take a trip along the coast to nearby Whitby. Whitby has connections with Bram Stoker’s Dracula and combined with the Abbey ruins, has long embraced the Gothic. In contrast, its colourful harbour and pier are every bit the classical seaside town with traditional holiday attractions. We return to the hotel for a festive cream tea.
