Merry Christmas! Enjoy an unforgettable mountain experience as we enjoy a ride aboard the Jungfraubahnen, Switzerland’s most popular mountain railway system. We board the railway in the village of Lauterbrunnen and travel up through the spectacular scenery to the Kleine Scheidegg Mountain pass, at the foot of the notorious Eiger North Wall. From Kleine Scheidegg we take the train and descend to the picturesque mountain village of Grindelwald. You will have time at leisure to explore and, weather permitting, enjoy the magnificent views of the famous Eiger Mountain.
We spend the day in the lovely town of Lucerne, surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery. Lucerne has long since charmed its visitors, on account of this beautiful setting and its many historic places of interest. Explore the delightful old town and take time to walk across the 14th-century Chapel Bridge. See the Lion Monument created in memory of the heroic death of the Swiss Guard soldiers in the Tuileries Gardens in Paris and the Zytturm, which boasts the oldest public clock in Lucerne. Dating from 1535, the clock always strikes the hour one minute ahead of all the other clocks in the city.
During the day, an optional cruise on the lake will be available. The cruise is a round trip lasting for approximately 1 hour. We return to our hotel this afternoon, allowing time to prepare for our evening meal.
