We travel south to Italy and arrive this evening on the shores of Lake Como.
Bergamo can be found in Lombardy, situated in the foothills of the Alps and with a wonderful atmosphere that combines the city’s heritage with its modern attitude. There’s so much to do here - Bergamo boasts two centres, the Upper City (Citta alta) and the Lower City (Citta bassa).
In the Upper City you can uncover Bergamo’s history, with the 14th-century Citadel, Bergamo Cathedral and numerous museums. In the Lower City, discover Bergamo’s cosmopolitan heart. Here, there’s an art gallery dedicated to modern and contemporary art, as well as an excellent shopping district ideal for buying souvenirs and gifts.
Lake Maggiore is another of the famous Italian lakes and is perfect for those who simply cannot get enough of this beautiful scenery. The lake is known for being the second largest of all the lakes in Italy, and is famous for its superb climate which allows a wide assortment of flora to grow.
We will visit Lake Maggiore during our holiday and will be able to relax by the lakeshore for an entire day.
Join our optional excursion and experience a once in a lifetime journey on the Bernina Regional Railway, travelling from St Moritz* and taking in breath-taking mountain scenery.
Sit back and relax as we make our way over peaks and passes, soaking in the mesmerising views.
This excursion is extremely popular, and we recommend that it is booked in advance. The price is from £64 per passenger. *Occasionally this train journey operates in reverse.
The optional excursions will be available to book during your tour.
Prices are per person and are subject to change. Payment will be in Euros (cash payments only).
Why not enjoy some free time in resort or join our optional half-day excursion visiting the delightful town of Como? Como is a city at the southern tip of the Lake. It's known for the Gothic Como Cathedral, a scenic funicular railway and a waterfront promenade. Como weekly market takes place on a Tuesday and Thursday morning, where you will find stalls along the city walls.
The optional excursions will be available to book during your tour.

Lugano is one of the most popular lakeside cities in Switzerland. Named after the lake it sits on the banks of, Lugano is famous for its bustling atmosphere, amazing attractions and, of course, stunning location.
In Lugano, you will find narrow cobblestone streets lined with boutiques and excellent little shops, where you can purchase souvenirs and mementos of your time here. You will also be able to take advantage of the many pavement cafés with superb views out over the lake, so you can admire the scenery here.

Overall the holiday was good The drivers Ross and Jim were outstanding nothing was too much trouble. The scenery was spectacular as were the views from the hotel dining areas. The negatives were 1. the length of time travelling to and from Stop 24, especially when there were delays, 20 hours on day 9. 2. As a solo traveller the room at the Bazzoni was awful very small reduced facilities, no fridge, towels not changed and no view at all, apart from a brick wall and rubbish. Wish I'd been warned before travelling and offered an upgrade. The food was OK, there was an excellent breakfast, and the pizza option at night was very good. Enjoyed the all inclusive.
