We arrive into the city of Worms this morning. Worms’ skyline is dominated by the four towers and two domes of the magnificent Kaiserdom, built in the 11th and 12th centuries in the late-Romanesque style, and consecrated in 1018. You can still see many vestiges of the old city walls, particularly the Torturmplatz and the Karolingerstraße. The Dom of St. Peter and St Paul, which was completed in 1325 survived the destruction of World War II. This afternoon we set sail for Rüdesheim, arriving later this evening. Tonight, there’s the chance to join our optional tour to visit a traditional wine cellar and sample some of the superb wine that the region is so famous for.
