The Dordogne River, which stretches from the mountains of Auvergne all the way to Garonne for around 300 miles, is surrounded by dark green forests, bustling villages and towns, and breathtaking panoramas. During our stay in Bergerac, we’ll get to explore this landscape to our heart’s content, thanks to the many excursions that are planned.

Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to our overnight hotel in the Paris area.
Continuing south, we make our way to Bergerac, travelling down through the French countryside before arriving at the Hotel de Bordeaux and settling into our accommodation for six nights.
Our included scenic drive along the meandering River Dordogne takes us to Sarlat, with its charming winding streets and pretty honey-coloured buildings. As we travel along the Dordogne, we’ll take in the stunning views and will enjoy the lovely vistas over the river and the surrounding countryside, which is filled with lush green forests and fields. Once in Sarlat, we’ll be able to enjoy all this quaint town has to offer, including its medieval architecture and the Sarlat Cathedral, parts of which dates from the 9th century. We’ll be able to explore the town and can go shopping to buy souvenirs of our visit.
Later, we’ll continue to the market town of Perigueux; home to a wonderful Cathedral of St. Front, which dates from the mid-1600s and which has a similar style to St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, having been modelled after it.
The fortified new towns and villages that were created under Raymond VII of Toulouse’s rule in order to replace those that had been destroyed in Albigensian Crusade are excellent examples of architecture from this time. We’ll visit some of these striking villages during this fantastic excursion.
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Bergerac. Why not enjoy an optional boat trip in Bergerac, with the opportunity to admire this beautiful part of the Dordogne department's stunning scenery. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed my Shearings holiday to the Dordogne. Our driver was on his own and did a wonderful job organising our excursions, hotels and sorting out any problems. He certainly deserves my thanks. I saw some pretty, charming old places, my favourite being Sarlat.Although I have given the holiday 5 stars I must mention our last meal at the Hotel de Bordeaux in Bergerac. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful and the meals very good apart from our last meal served on the Friday night. The pieces of beef were inedible, tough and grisly. In fact I couldnt even cut the meat with my knife. Sadly, most of my fellow travellers experienced the same. That was the only fault I can report. Lovely holiday otherwise. Thank you.

This tour was very good with some good trips. However, Shearings seem to have a shortgage of drivers and sub the driving out to Ridleys who are obviously a good company. Our two drivers Carlos and Jordan were lovely guys and the best drivers, very careful smooth driving. Hotel de Bordeaux in Bergerac where we stayed for 6 nights was sufficient with clean rooms and lovely staff and owners. However the evening meals brought in from another source are not great. The hotel's own breakfasts are excellent with everything you could wish for. Why don't Shearings market this holiday as Bed and Breakfast and bring the price down slightly. There are plenty of lovely restaurants a short walk away in the town.

The drivers had never been to France before and knew nothing about where we were going or where to find anything. They did not help the disabled. The breakfasts at the hotels was good but the evening means poor some courses inedible. At the Ibis Hotel on the way home there was a problem with door locks if the visitors left their room they were locked out.
