Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to the 4-star Courtyard by Marriott Oxford South in Abingdon for a four-night stay.
Trip to Oxford, the 'City of Dreaming Spires'. Home to England's oldest university, the city dates to Saxon times and you can follow in the footsteps of former Prime Ministers, notable writers and famous thinkers as you stroll along the cobbled streets.
From Inspector Morse to Harry Potter, Oxford has also been the backdrop to many popular films and TV shows, and there are many cosy pubs to relax in and enjoy the atmosphere.
Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world; founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 39 monarchs. It is said to have been much-loved by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who spent much of her time at the castle. Highlights of our visit included the richly decorated State Apartments and St. George’s Chapel – the setting of many royal weddings and the burial place of many monarchs.
We spend the afternoon in Windsor. Aside from its Royal connections, Windsor is a lively town in a glorious riverside location, with great shopping and restaurants.
This morning we visit charming Newbury, set in the very heart of rural Berkshire. Steeped in history and surrounded by some of the country's most beautiful countryside, this town has lots to offer with vibrant independent stores, high-street shops and a range of markets throughout the year.
Later, we return to the hotel with the remainder of the day at leisure to relax.
Return home.

Tours of Oxford and Windsor excellent. Hotel needs updated, restaurant evening food awful, Offered potatoes same veg, chicken, every night . No porter’s ,no lift had to carry cases up two flights of stairs. So would not recommend Double Tree byHilton Newbury North. Shearings themselves couldn’t do enough hotel was the let down.

Too busy - interesting history - quality buildings and surroundings - you can only get a glimpse of the many artefacts - It would take 2 or 3 trips to appreciate this wonderful castle
